Mastering ChatGPT Prompts: Your How-To Guide
I was asked a great question on X by @samcodes_io the other day.
It was such an informative piece of content. However, considering you used your precious, limited time to subscribe to my totally worth-it newsletter, I want to dive a bit deeper just for you.
Understand your end goal: Clearly define what you want to achieve with ChatGPT. Example: Preparing for a discrete mathematics exam.
Crafting a Great Prompt:
Assign a specific role or personality to ChatGPT. Example: "You are my college Discrete Mathematics tutor."
Include detailed information about your situation and objectives. Example: "I have a proctored exam in 2 weeks and have always struggled with math."
Specify your preferred method of learning or guidance. Example: "Guide me through this curriculum one section at a time using the Feynman Technique."
Encourage interactive engagement. Example: "Please ask me questions for clarification."
Avoiding a Bad Prompt:
Do not be vague or overly general. Bad Example: "Create a study curriculum to pass my exam."
Avoid lacking context or specificity. This leads to generic responses and potential confusion during prolonged interactions.
Leveraging Specificity for Better Outcomes:
Specificity in prompts provides ChatGPT with a clear direction, leading to more tailored and practical responses.
Incorporating personal details, learning preferences, and context results in a more personalized and effective interaction.
Iterative Promptng for Refinement:
If the initial response isn't satisfactory, refine your prompt by adding more details or clarifying your request.
View the interaction as a conversation where each prompt builds upon the last, guiding ChatGPT to your desired outcome.
Encouraging Dynamic Interaction:
Allow ChatGPT to ask follow-up questions. This creates a more dynamic and adaptive learning or problem-solving process.
Practical Application:
Practice with various scenarios to hone your prompting skills.
Continuously refine your approach based on the responses received.

Jargon Decryption: AI Hallucination
Let's break down the concept of "AI Hallucination" using the Feynman Technique, simplifying it for a broad understanding:
What is an AI Hallucination?
Imagine AI as a smart parrot that repeats and creates sentences. Sometimes, this parrot says things that aren't true or make no sense. That's what we call an AI hallucination. It's when the AI, like ChatGPT or Google Bard, says something false or silly.
Example: If you ask AI about space and it says something wrong about planets or stars, that's a hallucination.
Why Do AI Hallucinations Happen?
AI learns from a lot of information it reads on the internet or in books. But sometimes, this information can be wrong or confusing. So, the AI might repeat these mistakes.
Think of it like if you learned something wrong in school and then told someone else that wrong thing. That's what happens with AI; it's repeating what it learned, even if it's not correct.
Why Should We Care?
When AI says something wrong, it can confuse us or make us believe something that isn't true. This is important because we might use AI for studying, tasks, or just learning new things.
If AI keeps making mistakes, we might stop trusting it, like if a friend kept telling you the wrong answers. Also, these wrong answers could be used to trick people or spread false information.
