OpenAI has recently launched its innovative Assistants API, marking a significant stride in AI application development. This API is designed to empower developers to create agent-like AI applications tailored to specific tasks and objectives. Key features of the Assistants API include:

  • Code Interpreter: This enables the AI to write and run Python code, process diverse data, and generate graphs and charts. It's particularly useful for solving complex coding and mathematical challenges.

  • Retrieval: Enhances the assistant's capabilities by integrating external knowledge sources, such as proprietary data, product information, or user-provided documents. This feature optimizes retrieval techniques based on OpenAI's experience, simplifying the process for developers.

  • Function Calling: Allows the assistant to invoke developer-defined functions and integrate their responses into its messages, enhancing its interactivity and responsiveness.

One of the groundbreaking changes brought by the Assistants API is the introduction of persistent and infinitely long threads. This feature allows developers to bypass context window limitations by adding new messages to an existing thread, thus facilitating smoother and more continuous interactions.

Announcement of GPT-5 Development

OpenAI has continuously been on the hype train for almost a year now. So it’s not surprising that the supposed “announcement” for the development of GPT-5 is a bunch of hubbub.

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, has squashed these rumors about GPT-5's development and has directly said “no GPT-5”. And there won’t be for a while. Which in reality is perfect, because the functionality and guinea-pig environment that is GPT-4 continues to grow in functionality and solve specific use cases.

So unwad your britches, CALM DOWN.

YouTube's Major AI Policy Update

Labeling Requirement: YouTube has mandated that creators disclose the use of generative AI in their videos. This move is aimed at balancing creative freedom with community protection. AI-generated videos must be labeled as "artificial or synthetic," especially for sensitive topics. This label could appear in the description panel or directly on the video player for very sensitive topics.

Content Removal: In cases where labeling alone might not be sufficient to mitigate potential harm, YouTube reserves the right to remove content. An example provided is a synthetically created video depicting realistic violence, especially if it's intended to shock or disgust viewers.

AI-Powered Content Moderation: In an interesting turn, AI will be used to assist in moderating content about AI. AI systems will initiate the review process, which is then handed over to YouTube's human review team for final decisions. This approach aims to increase both the speed and accuracy of content moderation, especially when new threats emerge. Generative AI helps expand the set of information that AI classifiers are trained on, enhancing the platform's ability to rapidly identify and address novel content challenges.

This update reflects YouTube's effort to navigate the complexities of AI content on its platform, balancing innovation with ethical considerations and community safety.

Alpha waves in the human brain are between 6 and 8 hertz. The wave frequency of the human cavity resonates between 6 and 8 hertz. All biological systems operate in the same frequency range. The human brain's alpha waves function in this range and the electrical resonance of the earth is between 6 and 8 hertz. Thus, our entire biological system - the brain and the earth itself - work on the same frequencies. If we can control that resonate system electronically, we can directly control the entire mental system of humankind.

How to Build Your Own OpenAI Assistant GPT

  1. Log in to Your OpenAI Account: First, ensure you have a ChatGPT Plus or Enterprise account, as building a custom GPT is currently available only to these users.

  2. Choose the Problem You Want to Solve: Just like writing a video game or more simply trying to make a yummy chicken parm dinner, you’re going to want to write down the recipe, the pseudocode, the plan, the algorithm. You want to define a clear end goal and user journey, otherwise, the AI will bully you with what it thinks. Show it who is boss.

  3. Create Your GPT: Go to chat.openai.com and log in. In the sidebar, click "Explore" and then "Create a GPT". Enter your instructions in the message box on the Create page and interact with the GPT builder until you get the desired results.

  4. Configure Your GPT: Click "Configure" to add advanced customizations. This includes changing your chatbot's name, refining instructions, uploading knowledge files, and setting up actions. By default, your chatbot can browse the web, generate images, and run code. You can also add capabilities like Code Interpreter and actions to integrate with third-party APIs.

  5. Save Your GPT: Once you're satisfied with your chatbot, click "Save" or “Publish” and choose how you want to share your custom GPT: only you, people with a link, public, or anyone at your company (Enterprise plan).

  6. Share Your GPT: If you've made your custom GPT available to others, you can easily share it. In the sidebar, click "Explore", select the GPT you want to share, click the down caret next to your chatbot's name, click "Copy link", and then share the link as usual.

Jargon Decryption: GPT

  • What is GPT? GPT stands for Generative Pre-trained Transformer. That's quite a mouthful, right? Let's make it easier to understand.

  • Generative: Imagine you have a magical storybook that, instead of having stories written in it already, can create new stories whenever you ask. That's what "generative" means here - GPT can create or generate new things, like stories, answers, or even jokes!

  • Pre-trained: This magical storybook didn’t just learn to make up stories overnight. Before you even got it, you spent a lot of time (we're talking about a huge amount!) reading lots and lots of books, websites, and articles. This is like it’s training to be super smart and know about so many things. So, when we say GPT is pre-trained, it means it's already learned a lot before it starts helping you.

  • Transformer: This part is a bit like the magic spell that helps our storybook understand and create stories better. "Transformer" is a special method or trick that helps GPT to really understand what words mean when they are put together in sentences, kind of like understanding the secret code of language.

  • Why is GPT Important? GPT is a big deal in the world of AI because it's like having a super smart helper who can write, chat, answer questions, and even make cool things like poems or computer code. It's a big step forward in making computers understand and use language like humans do.

In A Nutshell…

  • Imagine you have this incredible, magical storybook (GPT) that's read so many books (pre-trained) and knows a special trick (transformer) to make new stories or help you with your questions. That's GPT in a nutshell – a smart, creative helper in the world of AI!
